Allocation of Wood Density in European Oak (Quercus robur L.) Trees Grown under a Canopy of Scots Pine

چکیده

The allocation of wood density in trees depends on many factors, but mainly the tree species. A great number studies have analysed dominant or codominant trees, only a few focused grown under canopy. We examined basic and fresh natural origin oaks growing canopy artificially planted Scots pine. major purpose work was to study different parts such as trunk branches. From total 80 we selected eight model measured biometric features their trunks crowns. Wood samples from crown were collected after felled. observed significant differences between average (595 kg·m?3) (1031 kg·m?3). central part heartwood shows much higher than outer sapwood, which corresponds ring-porous trees. Both types (basic fresh) also branches differed two zones: A1, closer had density; A2, farther away with lower density. positive correlation length not width, more connected diameter at breast height. found value slenderness reported by other authors without is associated potential mechanical load.

Regeneration Patterns of European Oak Species (Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl., Quercus robur L.) in Dependence of Environment and Neighborhood

Quercus robur L. (pedunculate oak) and Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl. (sessile oak) are two European oak species of great economic and ecological importance. Even though both oaks have wide ecological amplitudes of suitable growing conditions, forests dominated by oaks often fail to regenerate naturally. The regeneration performance of both oak species is assumed to be subject to a variety of v...

INTENZITET FOTOSINTEZE I VEGETATIVNI RAST HRASTA LUŽNJAKA (Quercus robur L.) U POKUSNOM NASADU PHOTOSYNTESIS INTENSITY AND VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF PEDUNCULATE OAK (Quercus robur L.) IN COMMON-GARDEN EXPERIMENT

Peculiar traits of wood in a leaning stem of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)

The paper analyses biometrical and anatomical traits of wood in a leaning stem of pine trees. For study purpose, five pine trees (Pinus sylvestris L.) with a visibly leaning stem were chosen. Wood samples were taken at three different stem heights, that is, below the stem curvature, at the curvature and above the curvature. Microscopic specimens were prepared and used for the following measurem...

Photosynthesis and Biomass Allocation in Oak Seedlings Grown under Shade

Northern’ red oak (Quercus rubra L.) (NRO) and white oak (0. alba L.) (WO) acorns were sown into wooden plots and grown under 30 percent shade screen (30 percent S) or 70 percent shade screen (70 percent S). Seedlings grown under full sun were the controls (C). At the end of the first year, the 30 percent S NRO had 30 percent greater seedling dry weight (DW) than C seedlings. No growth differen...

seasonal variability of rainfall interception and canopy storage capacity measured under individual oak (quercus brantii) trees in western iran

while the hydrological balance of forest ecosystems has often been studied, quantitative studies on the seasonal variability of rainfall interception (i) and canopy storage capacity (s) by individual trees are less frequently reported. hence, the effects of the seasonal variation in i and s by individual persian oak trees (quercus brantii var. persica) in the zagros forests of iran were studied...
